CAARRLLL!!!
I like to tell people that I was a fan of The Walking Dead long before it was cool to be. I read the comic series back in the day and was overjoyed when I heard it was being developed into a TV show. Sadly, I checked out of the show before it was finally cancelled but I remained a fan of the comic series. I have enjoyed the two VR games that have come out under the franchise and was super excited to check out World War Z x The Walking Dead as I am also a massive fan of the WWZ game.

MSRP: $9.99
Platforms: Xbox (reviewed), PlayStation, PC
Price I’d Pay: $9.99
World War Z has been around forever in its video game form, but if you somehow have absolutely no clue what it is I will give you the elevator pitch. Based on the movie of the same name, the game has players in teams of 4 try and make it to safety against the hordes of zombies. Just as in the movie these zombies don’t shamble like the ones in the Walking Dead, no they run and use their bodies to form human ladders to get to higher points. It’s a horde shooter at its finest, there are classes, various weapons including melee and a host of levels and DLC. It also offers PvP multiplayer, like this game has everything and Saber just keeps adding more.
This isn’t to sell you on World War Z though, the WWZ x Walking Dead isn’t a full game by itself, instead it’s a DLC that honestly, I am surprised hasn’t come around a lot sooner. In the DLC World War Z’s running hordes have been replaced with traditional walkers from the show which makes the whole affair feel more like a Walking Dead game, which is nice. Being able to slice up zombies as Michonne or bust some skulls with Negan’s famous bat, Lucille was always a blast. In addition to the two I mentioned players can also look forward to being able to play as Rick or Darryl both are voiced by their respective actors from the show. Michonne and Negan, sadly are impersonated and they both sound like it.

On the location side of things, the DLC has great choices. The Prison from seasons three and four, Grady Memorial Hospital and Alexandria are here and each look faithfully recreated. Each of the maps is designed well and features great pathways for players to travel through. Each one counts as a single chapter so this DLC is on the shorter side of things, which does kinda suck. However, being priced at $9.99 and seeing as not only does it change the style of enemies but also gives us the spikey-tank zombie from the show; I can forgive the low map count.
There have been a few Walking Dead games that have come out, a lot of them are bad, but I can say that this DLC really made me feel like I was *IN* the world of the Walking Dead; as awful as that world is. World War Z is already a phenomenal game, made that much better with the addition of this bargain priced DLC, fans of the Walking Dead can have the opportunity to slay some zombies with Rick and his friends one more time.
