Anger Foot (PC) Review

Face meet Foot

Indie games continue to be the life blood of the video game industry, Anger Foot is a time trial FPS where players control a sneakerhead who fights with kicks and its crazy just how much it works. Developer Free Lives has partnered with publisher Devolver Digital to put out a game that just feels like classic Devolver in almost every way!

MSRP: $24.99
Platforms: PC
Price I’d Pay: $24.99

As I said, Anger Foot is a time trial FPS which means it’s a twitch-precision, one-hit-kill, fast paced game. Players begin in the angry feet of a green-skinned sneaker head who lives in Shit City – a rough part of town where crime pays and if you aren’t in a gang then you are a victim. No sooner than the player returns home with their new showpiece sneakers does the leader of the Violence gang comes and rips the whole wall off and steals all the priceless shoes. And just like that we are off on an adventure, just like John Wick when he murdered all those dudes to get his car back.

Combat is simple in Anger Foot, of course there is a dedicated kick button, when the player picks up a gun, they can use it until the clip is dry and another button allows them to throw the empty guns as weapons. With these simple controls and of course a jump button, players will be thrust into a lot of small levels where they only goal is to make it to the end. Players will kick down doors, shoot gang members, and of course kick enemies right in the face with authority! Each level has players on the clock but they won’t be rewarded every time for beating a time clock, some times players will get extra challenges to tackle in a level and these are worth exploring.

Every five stars that players earn for beating a challenge will reward them with a new pair of sneakers, each that comes with a unique ability that can enable new ways to play. There are shoes that will make every door that the player kicks down explode, there are shoes that speed up the player and lots of other power up options. Anger Foot actually also does a good job of changing up its gameplay from all the kicking and shooting. Every few levels players will be allowed to wander around an apartment building or some ally full of various characters.

These moments were really my favorites as it allowed for the weird, gross and crime filled world of Shit City to have some depth. Speaking to the various NPC’s players will learn about their woes, or a bit of trivia about the area they are standing in or just hang out and see some weird and funny scene play out. There is a lot to love about Anger Foot, the bass-heavy music that blasts in your ears while kicking thugs all around a room really amps up the experience. There are some weird bosses and enemies too, one final form of a boss was literally just a beat-up car. Anger Foot is loud, rude, gross, in your face and most importantly it’s a lot of fun!

Terrence spends his time going where no one has gone before mostly. But when not planning to take over the galaxy, he spends his time raising Chocobo and trying to figure out just how the sarlaac could pull Boba Fett’s ship with its engines firing FULL BLAST into it’s maw with relative ease; yet it struggled with Han Solo who was gripping *checks notes* SAND!
