Grab all the nuts!
Squirrel with a Gun is a delightfully chaotic and whimsical game developed by Dee Dee Creations and published by Maximum Entertainment. Not gonna lie, I was curious about this game just based off the name alone. While I had never gotten into the Goat Simulator series, I have heard and can see how it would be fun. Well, Squirrel with a Gun is so much fun, once I found out that you can rob people for “acorns”; I was all about this game.
In Squirrel with a Gun, players will take control of a mischievous squirrel who has escaped from a secret underground facility. Armed with an arsenal of firearms, your goal is to wreak havoc in a vibrant neighborhood, solve intricate puzzles, and collect golden acorns. The game’s premise is absurd, and it delivers on its promise of nutty, chaotic fun.

The gameplay involves using weapon recoil to propel yourself through the air, solving puzzles, and causing chaos in the neighborhood. Each weapon has a unique recoil pattern, adding a layer of strategy to the platforming and puzzle-solving elements. For instance, the pistol will allow for successive double-jumps as long as the clip has bullets. While the mac-10 submachine gun acts as a jetpack of sorts with its rapid-fire release, propelling the squirrel into the air. The sandbox world is filled with opportunities for exploration and mayhem, making every playthrough a unique experience. From chasing down terrified residents to using a bazooka to blow up obstacles, the game offers a variety of scenarios that keep players on their toes.
Players are tasked with completing a series of objectives scattered across the neighborhood. These can range from simple tasks like stealing items from unsuspecting humans to more complex puzzles that require careful planning and timing. The open-world nature of the game allows players to approach these objectives in a variety of ways, providing a sense of freedom and creativity. By far my favorite thing to do is run around and rob the humans at gunpoint for their acorns; its really the simple things.

Upgrading my arsenal.
One of the standout features of Squirrel with a Gun is its humor. The game doesn’t take itself too seriously, and this lighthearted approach is evident in every aspect of the design. From the over-the-top weapon choices to the hilarious reactions of the NPCs, the game is filled with moments that will have players laughing out loud. Even though this squirrel is causing all kinds of mayhem, there is no blood and guts; which if I am honest had me kind of sad, but I am sure the PC modders can fix that.
Squirrel with a Gun is a wonderfully charming and hilarious game that offers a unique and engaging experience. The game’s humor and creativity make it a joy to play, and the variety of missions and customization options ensure a high level of replayability. While it has its share of flaws, such as its short length and floaty controls, the overall experience is well worth it for anyone looking for a fun and nutty adventure. (Pun intended)
